Weight: 11 pounds 6 ounces.
Height: 23.5 inches.
Favorite Pastime: Eating and sleeping. Bath time is growing on her.
Least Favorite Pastime: Everything that doesn’t involve eating or sleeping. She’s very sensitive to movement and sound, so living with a toddler is her worst nightmare. If you even look at her wrong she gets upset. I’m hoping this is just a newborn thing that she will grow out of soon.
Eating: Eating has been going great. During the day she eats every 2-4 hours and seems to be full and satisfied after every meal. However, she will NOT take a bottle.
Sleep: Her longest stretch of sleep at night is usually 8-10 hours. She’ll wake up to eat, and then sleeps 2-4 more hours before waking up for the day. She naps 3 or 4 times a day and they average 1-3 hours. She’s a great little sleeper. Sometimes Blake and I wake up (for the first time that night) and can’t remember if we’ve already been up to change and feed her, because it’s almost morning and surely she hasn’t slept until morning, haha. It’s surreal.
Clothes: She’s still in 0-3 month clothing, but everything is getting pretty snug. I have plans to get out the 3-6 month clothes this week.
Diapers: Size 1.
I have to laugh when I look at the following pictures of her “smiling”. You’ll notice there are none of her giving a big smile, just little smirks. That’s about as excited as she gets.
Hazel is getting so big. If you catch her in a good mood, she’s so sweet and fun to be around. She has started “talking” a lot. I love hearing her cute little voice.
Last Sunday was our little Hazel’s 1 month birthday. Here’s what is going on in her world.
Weight: 8 pounds 13 ounces. This was her weight at her two week checkup. As such, it’s probably not even close to what she weighs now.
Height: 21.5 inches. Again, from her two week checkup.
Favorite Pastime: Eating. Being carried in the Ergo. Riding in the car (it’s official, my kids love car seats). Hanging out in the swing.
Least Favorite Pastime: Bath time. Sitting in the bouncer. Dealing with gas and an upset tummy.
Eating: She is eating every 2-3 hours during the day. She had her first full bottle of breast milk yesterday, so that’s exciting. I might be able to leave the house alone sometime soon. ;)
Sleep: She sleeps 2-4 hour stretches at night. The nights actually have not been that bad. She wakes up to eat and goes right back to sleep, which is so nice. I’m getting more sleep than I did when I was pregnant with her. Weird.
Hazel is a pretty good baby. It’s so fun watching her grow and learn new things. She’s just starting to smile and has almost found her voice. We are looking forward to her becoming more alert and interacting more with us in the next month.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! We went into Anchorage today to watch the start of the Iditarod (read about last year here). It was a long day. We’re all tired out and ready for bed.
Until next time,
At 19 months, Lillian is a little over 1.5 years old now. She is such a big girl and is growing up so fast! She had her 18 month checkup a few weeks ago, so I figured now would be a good time to do a little update.
Weight: 23 pounds.
Height: 34 inches. She’s still really tall for her age. 97th percentile. It never fails, people always comment about her height after I tell them her age.
Favorite Pastime: Playing outside. Reading books. Watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She has become obsessed with Mickey. As such, we only let her watch an episode a day, which is easily the best part of her day.
Least Favorite Pastime: Cleaning up toys. Getting dressed for bed. Sitting in her stroller.
Favorite Food: CHEESE. She flips out when she gets to eat cheese.
Least Favorite Food: Green vegetables.
Sleep: Lillian is the best little sleeper. She sleeps 11-12 hours a night and takes an hour nap during the day. When she wakes up she just lays in her crib and talks to herself until we go in to get her. This has been going on for as long as I can remember. We’ve been spoiled by her sleeping habits, so I’m scared to see what the new baby is going to be like. I feel like our luck is running out.
Teeth: 10 teeth. Her upper first molars just came in.
New Words: She repeats pretty much any word you ask her to say. She’s very chatty. Even if she’s not saying real words, she’s always jabbering. She’s starting to put sentences together and it’s the cutest thing. When I go in her room in the morning she’ll say “Hi mama, how are you?” and I die. At 17 months she started counting to 10 (skipping 4 and 9). Now she can get all the way to 13 by herself!
Diapers: Size 4. We were going to start potty training this month, but I was worried she’d have a setback with the arrival of the baby, which I’ve heard is pretty common. I think we’ll wait another month or two.
Clothes: 2T and 3T.
Wow, the last update I did was when Lilly turned 1. It’s so crazy to look back and see how much she has changed.
She’s a pretty good little girl. However, she’s not the best listener, she loves to destroy everything, and is always running. She never stops moving. Ever. We have been struggling with an appropriate method of discipline that works for us. When she does something she knows is naughty she shakes her finger and yells “STOP IT, Yiyin” at herself or she’ll say “ohhhh nooooo” like whatever she did was a big accident. Then Blake and I laugh because it’s funny. No wonder she doesn’t take us seriously. ;)
We’ve been getting out a lot in the last few weeks. I’ve been trying to take her out to do some fun activities as much as possible. I know we won’t get out as much when the baby arrives, so we’re enjoying it while we can! Here she is at Turf Time and the Anchorage Museum this week.
And here she is playing in her room today.
Happy weekend everyone!!
My poor little blog. It has been neglected for so long. We’ve been a little busy. Summer in Alaska is no joke. Squeezing 12 months of fun into 2 (maybe 3… fingers crossed) short months is quite demanding.
Anyway, in honor of Lillian’s 13 month birthday last week, I figured I’d finish what I started with the first year Monthly Updates and finally share her 12 month update. ;) She had her one year well baby visit a few weeks ago. She’s a happy and healthy little
Weight: 20 pounds 11 ounces.
Height: 30.5 inches.
Favorite Pastime: Running around outside. Reading books. Climbing up and down our stairs.
Least Favorite Pastime: Diaper changes. Long car rides.
Favorite Food: Mac & Cheese. Grapes. Bananas.
Least Favorite Food: Peas. Green things.
Sleep: She’s been taking her “morning nap” around noon these days and has been refusing to sleep during her second nap. She prefers kicking the wall and running circles in her crib instead.
Teeth: 2 teeth. I am shocked that she still has only 2 teeth.
Walking Status: Lillian started walking at my parent’s house during our visit to ND in May. Since then, she’s really taken off and is cruising all over the place. I LOVE that she is walking now. She’s so much happier exploring up on her feet.
New Words: She’s still just saying Mom, Dad, and HIIII.
Diapers: Size 3.
Clothes: 18-24 month tops and bottoms.
Now that Lillian is 1, I think I’ll stop with the Monthly Updates. Her next Dr. appointment is at 15 months, so maybe I’ll do an update then. Or maybe at 18 months. We’ll see how ambitious I’m feeling when the time comes.
Until next time,
I can’t believe my baby girl is almost ONE! In a month I’m going to have a little toddler! Whoa.
Weight: 20 pounds.
Height: 29 inches.
Favorite Pastime: Playing in the toilet. We try to keep our bathroom doors closed at all times. If we forget, there’s a 99.9% chance that we’ll find something in the toilet. A couple days ago it was her smiley face ball. Yesterday it was a sock. Today a handful of ponytails. I feel like I’m living with a dog.
Least Favorite Pastime: There’s nothing that stands out this month. BUT she has started throwing little tantrums so that’s fun.
Favorite Food: Lil’ Crunchies, which are basically Cheetos for babies. As such, she only gets them on rare occasions (like when we’re out for dinner and need to keep her still and happy for a long period of time).
Least Favorite Food: Lately she’s been eating everything we offer her. Yay!
Sleep: Sleeps all night. Two good naps a day.
Teeth: 2 teeth. No new teeth. I think she’s working on a couple. She’s been a little fussy and drooling a lot. The necklace you see in some of her recent pictures is supposed to help with the inflammation and pain. The jury’s still out.
Walking Status: She’s taking a few steps but is still pretty out of control.
New Words: Dad. Daddy. Mom. Hi.
Diapers: Size 3.
Clothes: 18 month tops. 24 month bottoms.
Lilly was not very excited about pictures on her 11 month birthday. I think I pissed her off with the bow. I don’t blame her.
Last week was Lillian’s 10 month birthday. She is getting so big and more fun by the minute. Tonight she got the giggles and laughed for 3 minutes straight. Blake and I were dying. She’s the best.
Weight: 20 pounds.
Height: 29 inches.
Favorite Pastime: Going up and down the step in our hallway. Playing with cell phones. Going for walks. Bath time. Playing pat-a-cake. Reading books (she’s a great page turner).
Least Favorite Pastime: Afternoon naps. Waiting on her bottle.
Favorite Food: Bananas. PB&J. Plain old baby oatmeal cereal.
Least Favorite Food: Peas. Green beans. Peaches. Grapes.
Sleep: Lillian sleeps all night. She takes a nap in the morning and also goes down for a late afternoon nap (she usually just sits in her crib and gives her baby kisses or jumps around during her afternoon nap).
Teeth: 2 teeth. Another month without any new teeth.
Walking Status: Lillian is working on walking. She is standing on her own and walking along furniture. If Blake or I hold out our arms she will take a few quick steps before falling into them.
Diapers: Size 3.
Clothes: 12 month tops. 18 month bottoms.
her cheeeeese face
How soon is too soon to start planning for her 1st birthday party? It’s never too soon? Ok great, because I started 10 months ago. ;)
Until next time,
Happy 9 month birthday sweet little Panda!! 3/4 of a year old. How did that happen? Sniff sniff.
Weight: 19 pounds
Height: 28.75 inches
Favorite Pastime: Pulling herself up on anything and everything. Sitting in the side table and tossing magazines and newspapers all over the floor. Clapping. Being outside. Reading books.
Least Favorite Pastime: Waiting for her bottle. She flips out if she sees it and it’s not immediately in her mouth.
Favorite Food: Anything that she can pick up and feed herself. She’s over mush on a spoon.
Least Favorite Food: Carrots. Blended corn (but loves whole kernels). Peas. Green beans.
Sleep: She went through a week of waking up once or twice at night when she was learning to crawl. But now she’s back to sleeping all night.
Teeth: 2 teeth! No new teeth this month.
Crawling Status: Lillian is crawling all over the place, gaining more courage and speed every day. She’s so happy to be crawling. She’s way more content playing by herself now and isn’t so needy. It’s nice.
Diapers: Size 3
Clothes: 12 month tops, 18 month bottoms
Sorry about the blurry pics. It’s just easier to take them on my phone rather than getting out the huge camera and dealing with that whole situation. Also, Lillian chases after the darn camera strap and I can’t get her to sit still when I use it.
Until next time,
Today is Lilly’s 8 month birthday! I can hardly believe it. I get a
lot little sad when I think about how fast these last 8 months have gone. Instead, I like to focus my attention on how fun she is getting as she grows older. She really is more and more fun every day. I love watching her grow, explore, and learn new things. It’s amazing!
Weight: 20 pounds
Height: 28.5 inches
Favorite Pastime: Jumping! She loves to play and jump in her Exersaucer. Bath time. Eating. Watching Yo Gabba Gabba.
Least Favorite Pastime: Diaper changes. Getting her face wiped clean. Nap time. Learning to crawl.
Favorite Food: Sweet potatoes. Bananas. Plain old baby oatmeal cereal. Puffs snacks. Yogurt melts.
Least Favorite Food: Anything green. She really hates peas and green beans.
Sleep: She sleeps through the night 12+ hours. Boom!
Teeth: Her first TWO teeth came in over the weekend! The bottom left came in Friday night and the bottom right on Saturday morning. We had no idea this was even happening (no unusual fussing) until I stuck my finger in her mouth last week and felt teeth under her gums.
Crawling Status: She’s so close! She’s up on all fours, rocking, and moving her legs to crawl (this usually turns into some fancy yoga moves or impressive planking). She’s started to move her arms but she usually only gets one moved before falling flat. She gets so frustrated trying to figure it out. She’d rather be pulling herself up on things and standing. We’re convinced she might walk before she crawls. Stay tuned.
Lillian is developing quite the little personality. I’m pretty sure Blake is terrified of what’s to come. Screaming at the top of her lungs is her favorite form of communication. I’m not talking about a little yelling or crying really loud. She doesn’t cry. I’m taking about the loudest, high pitch, ear piercing scream you can imagine. That’s her thing. All the time. It doesn’t matter if she’s happy or sad, she’s screaming. She’s also really into blowing spit bubbles, so that’s fun.
Seriously though, Lilly is a great baby. She’s silly, sweet, and as feisty as ever! Love her.
